That's a helluva good question. I think that the problem stems from the fact that a significant number of Americans, at least a third of them, are dissatisfied with the rule of law as propounded in the Constitution. They were happy as we were steered away into the Serbonian Bog of progressivism and are now in a snit inasmuch as it appears that we diverted back towards a Constitutional Republic. They're taking out their anger on the President, but he isn't really the root of their problem. We the Deplorables who elected him are the problem and they don't have the guts to face us.

I am just disgusted that a budget has to be passed by these self centered human beings to operate our country and military, yet these investigations are paid for or shenanigans hiding schemes without committee or anything. Instant fund and instant payoff to shut people up. Is it time to get rid of the whole scheme? Reboot?

Time and money have been wasted on investigations for the past several years......how many different investigations were launched over the Benghazi event? They all looked at the same evidence, interviewed the same people, and arrived at the same conclusion. One investigation would have sufficed. And now.......since we have a special prosecutor investigating (who will turn over every rock and get to the bottom of it if there is anything "there"), why do we need all these congressional investigations......looking at the same evidence, interviewing the same people, and will in all probability arrive at the same conclusion? I agree.......waste of money. The Mueller investigation will suffice.

As long as we put the blame on the "other" side, we will not change anything. The only possibility for a truly representative government is uniting behind such issues as election campaign reform. Concentrate on what unites us, not quibble over what divides us.

As to the investigations, that is an outcome of having elected representation.

No career politicians! Political candidates must have worked in an industry (other than politics) for 10-15 years before seeking political office. (and a quota limit of "lawyers" from each state; we need more doctors, business execs, teachers, military, farmers, etc. "representing" our communities) Also, term limits and political office limits. No more than 2 terms as a Rep, Senator, Gov, or Pres and no more than 20-25 years total in all gov't office positions. (1 term Rep, 1 Sen, 1 Gov and 2 Pres = 22 years +/-)

In a word, no. Modern politics has long been run by big money, and with the Citizens United decision of 2010, it has become even more so. Jimmy Carter said, once, that in his campaign against Regan, , they spent $60M between them. Now days, $60 is just another PAC. Further complicating things is the fact that most politics today, , is about identity, not issues. People tend to vote the same way every time they vote, and time after time, do so against their own self interest.

Roughly 1/2 of registered voters cast a ballot, so I'm not sure they aren't part of the problem. Term limits, campaign finance reform, abolish lobbyists, do away with gerrymandering and voter suppression would all be a good start. We have to stop this us vs them game they are playing, and start taking care of all the US vice 1/2 or so. That works for the constituents of the majority but not so good for everyone else. Then if/when the majority shifts they spend their term(s) undoing what the previous majority did. One step forward, two steps back.
