I would consider it in the same category as knee braces and such.

So what's the question? If you are asking if it is allowed, I know of nothing in the reg that would forbid it. But that depends on your interpretation of the reg. I once saw an NCO refuse to allow another NCO to run because he was wearing a knee brace, and the regulation does not allow "assistance" on the run.

I would also consider it a form of a brace. I had a shoulder injury and that was a form of treatment that Army medical professionals treated me with. But in all honesty I'm sure that it is either a cross fitter or someone that thinks it's going to help them pass. If you don't stop it you will see people with that tape covering them body. Then with you get one guy go down with an heat injury and he covered most his back with it you will see how dumb it gets. It's a fad. Plus or doesn't present a professional appearance on uniform.

I was notorious for sparking up a cigarette during the last 1/2 mile of the 2 mile Record APFT run. Nothing in the Regs said I couldn't puff away as I crossed the finish line. I gotta say that I gleefully pissed off a LOT of people. 90 points BaBy! Every time!

btw ~ FM 21-20 is NOT a Reg.
