And under AR 670-1 it seems to be ok but I'd like some other feedback Is it appropriate to wear your ASU to a Memorial Day event? Not a party but a town sponsored Memorial Day event. 2015-05-24T20:35:56-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 693589

I am just looking for some guidance. One way to honor that service is to wear your ASUs and be an example to the vast majority of Americans who have never served in the military and consequently really have no clue as to the sacrifices that service involves. They may understand it conceptually but it needs to be brought home in a real way for that sacrifice to be truly understood. I think the Army is the only service that allows it. (I think the reason the Army permits it is that the want to public to see the "warrior image" The Marines always have that reputation, and the AF, Navy and CG don't want to convey that image!) You cannot use the uniform at POLITICAL events. If a single-track Memorial Day event, I think you're all good. But if it's a "Memorial Day, let's throw the bums out and put our bums in" event, not so much.

I haven't seen a lot of politicalization of Memorial day, but think it's worth throwing that out. Veterans Day and Memorial Day are perfect times to wear your ASU's. Our most professional uniform for a very special occasion.
