Is it appropriate for an MOS-T & IET trainee to be roommates during reclass school? What is the regulation on it?

Is there a regulation again MOS-T sharing a room with privates during reclass ? IM a specialist & I’ve been in 7 yrs & also been selected for my e5. I really don’t feel comfortable sharing a room with IET soldiers. How can I fight this ?

No. When I went to AIT, granted 16 years ago, but they didn't allow the IET and reclass soldiers to room together. The reclass soldiers were in a completely separate barracks. Also we weren't supposed to fraternize with them outside of class either. Did it happen? Yes.

What AIT are you going to? Did they say you have to room with IET soldiers?

IET and MOSQ aren't allowed to fraternize with each other. But there is nothing that says the school cannot room them together if need be. It will be covered by the local policy.

No reason why they can't that I know of but when I reclassed to 11D (the old 19D) in the early 70s, I spoke with the Brigade CSM and he had Squadron CSM give me an NCO room in the barracks on the bottom floor. Talk to the Senior NCO of the course's COC.

Most reclass tend to be put in separate rooms but I don't know where you are going????

Fight it. Why would you not embrace the opportunity to mentor this Soldier. He should be the second best most disciplined and professional coming out of Training. You are a Soldier and Junior enlisted, they are under no obligation to give you a private room. If you were an NCO that would be different. Embrace the opportunity.

SPC Private RallyPoint Member Your profile says you are national guard so unless you are on active status, how often are you sharing room? Ive been out way, way too long and the terminology has changed. I dont even know what MosT and IET are.

When I went through AIT in 2019 they had E4 reclass room in with new trainees. But, not all schoolhouses are the same. Depends on space availability and schoolhouse rules.

I’m an MOS-T at Ft Huachuca right now.
They have all the MOS-Ts in our own barracks on the other side of base.
IET soldiers are kept in their own IET barracks and they report to the DSs

You should not be roomed with IET

Hey thanks for the feed back. Update , I shouldn’t even be in these barracks. If reported they could get into a lot of trouble. So I’ll ether be moved or placed in a private room away from the soldiers if possible.

(2010 EOD AIT) MOS-T had their own barracks. That was a hot minute ago and on an Airforce Base so I don't know. I would say the best course of action would be to ask the Cadre what is proper and dig in some Tradoc regulations if you don't feel comfortable with the answer. I would also weigh the time you have there and ask yourself if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Interesting question. Enlisted sleep together separated by male and female , NCOs however are often segregated at the E-7 level and above. Team leaders and Squad Leaders often billet as NCOICs among the enlisted. In Garrison, E-5 and E-6 most definitely can find themselves sleeping among the lower enlisted. The Army needs SR. Specialist to watch the younger privates, especially when there is no NCOs to do so. Be proud to lead and square away the others; you will be doing this your whole career so get use to it as you progress.
