Is hotel 8 a requirement for 91s?

If you’re told you’re going to hotel 8 by your leadership can you deny it? Is it a requirement to go?

It's in the PDM for a Skill Level 1 91S as Functional Training. It allows you to serve as a Recovery Vehicle Operator..one of 2 positions for a Level 1 91S. Your unit likely needs a H8 91S and you performed well to be recommended. You can request to not go, but they will likely push that you go, especially if you have a ATRRS slot already.
It also separates you from your peers when it comes time for promotion.

It is required if you are in a recovery operator or NCO slot. Its a good course to attend, don’t short sell yourself.

Basically what everybody else said. Its a good course to have, is technically involved, is useful downrange, makes you more valuable to your unit, and increases your mobility.
