Is Google Prepping to Bid for the DoD Contract?

Google has updated their Google for Business interface to include the option of using secure keys that take the place of password logins. This solves the problem of weak passwords much the same way our CAC card does.

It also indicates that they are only a few programming steps away from potentially being able to let us use our CAC cards. The contract for Microsoft Windows ends soon and a switch to google drive would greatly increase organizational efficiency.

Imagine having live multiple editors on spreadsheets, docs (OPORDS), being able to actually take your files with you when you PCS without having to burn them to a CD, being able to use a DoD version of gmail, and there's tools for searching files easier to make it easier to comply with FOI requests and increase the speed and efficiency of our transparency goals (google Vault).

Would you prefer Gmail over Outlook?

As much as it is a pain in the ... that the current logins are, I don't think as liberal as google is that's it's a good way to go for government. Especially with the unstable and lack of common ground within the higher realms at this point.
I like everything about their products for personal use, but with their abilities and ideologues I don't trust them with the security of our defense. For security sake I believe we still stand a better chance with Microsoft.

Maybe part of the bigger picture . . . prepping the military to try to persuade DOD to allow Google to have access to the military's DNA database?
