Is Fort Jackson still considered "Relaxing Jackson"?

SGT Private RallyPoint Member my BCT was there and one DS went mad when he heard a Private mentioning the "relaxing" word. In my case, I went to Basic being 31 years old, I was older than all my PLT DS, I didn't offer any "fun" to them so I was pretty much invisible there. For me, yes, it was Relaxing Jackson.

I did as many pushups at Relaxing Jackson as I could have anywhere else, I saw no difference in PT scores from Jackson BCT graduates than I saw from Benning graduates.

It sure wasn't "Relaxin' Jackson" when I was there in the late '80's. Our day room was soaked in sweat after the numerous smoke session; I excelled in doing pushups facing a downhill slope.

That being said, I'm not sure what it's like for today's soldiers going through BCT.

It wasn't relaxing when I went through Basic Training on Tank Hill, maybe for those cats in what we use to call Hollywood yes!

I went through from Nov 2010 - Jan 2011.....i swear i was at some type of summer camp.

Depending on what you went through when you went through Basic/AIT/OSUT, then possibly. I know it is an absolute cakewalk to my OSUT experience, so I can say that, in my view, it is indeed, Relaxin' Jackson.

My girlfriend went, and they never even got issued rucks; they had assault packs. Going through FLW doing 20k+ rucks with 50lbs, my view is a little skewed, but come on! Assault packs? Oh and the pizza party at the end of their "blue phase". They got it rough.

I hate the way that the army change. in 93 when i got basic it was hard cord, before i graduated got sick and hospitalized, when i came back my Drill lost my papers, Personal close and all, so need it to star all over again and it was the end. lower standards, MALES and FEMALES same company... all when to Sh...........

As DS there in 94-97 I will say it was not as strenuous as my Boys to Men camp at FORT Benning in 1985. Though I can assure you, Aco 1-28 was not contributing to the term "Relaxin' Jackson"

My time at Charlie 1/28 (Black Lions lead the way!) in Oct-Nov of '04 was in no way relaxin. We had, from what I can remember, a SpecOps-sniper, a tough-as-nails 11b, and an artillery specialist for DS's. They made life he'll. But I would not have traded them for anything.

Yes, but I don't know why! I was Bravo 1-13 and it was tough! I dug 4 two man fighting positions (deliberate). I qualified while a hurricane was coming through.

Depends what battalion you're in. I was in 2-60 bco. We barely PTed and being a coed class everything was PGish.

From my time in the military I feel all bases are relaxing too much bct was made to tear you down and build you up not protect your emotions
