And it is incumbent upon us to adapt to it or perish. Our ancestors adapted successfully. Obviously, else we wouldn't be here. But are we? Not so far as I can see. Running around like Chicken Little, wasting our time, our resources, and our finite fortunes on stopping climate change is setting us up for extinction.
I anticipate two objections to my brief opening statement and I propose to deal with them just as briefly. First, we did not create climate change. Yes, human activity has had some small effect on local climate conditions. Cities are greater heat sinks than rural areas and our populations have gravitated to cities in recent times. Also, our growing population has spurred a growing demand for energy, the generation of which has pumped more particulates and gases into the atmosphere. However, none of these have precipitated a threat equal to the self inflicted wounds of the climate change or green energy movement. Now, if you want to argue with any portion of this paragraph, please provide facts and I will respond with facts. I won't waste my time on ad hominem attacks and unsubstantiated claims. I hope you will do the same.

Secondly, our ability to adapt to climate change is seriously impaired by ignorance as to the reality of the threat. Claims begun in the popular film "An Inconvenient Truth" and parroted ad nauseum by celebrities, politicians, and media have misled the people into supporting projects and programs that only serve to make us more servile to an ever growing and more tyrannical government. Again, I will be happy to respond with documented facts to any challenge to these assertions, but I won't waste my time on juvenile arguing and name calling.

Finally, to adapt, we need energy. Modern civilization cannot exist without it and man cannot exist in any worthwhile way without civilization. Wind and Solar farms using current technology, indeed any technology, are not adequate. We have a technology already in hand that is. Nuclear. And we have abundant supplies of fossil fuels to keep us going while we deploy it.

What stands in our way? Ignorance. We desperately need educators and media to stop propagandizing for a tyrannical government and begin teaching and helping We the People to think for ourselves again. (What a drama queen)

parroted ad nauseum by celebrities, politicians, and media have misled the people into supporting projects and programs that only serve to make us more servile to an ever growing and more tyrannical government. (What a drama queen again)

We desperately need educators and media to stop propagandizing for a tyrannical government and begin teaching and helping (What does teach and helping mean?)

This is poorly written because its baseless opinions because no facts are presented, and if an opinion is presented as a fact there is nothing substantiating it.

My grade for this is his essay a D at best.Response by MAJ Ken Landgren made Sep 18 at 2022 4:23 PM2022-09-18T16:23:51-04:002022-09-18T16:23:51-04:002022-09-18T10:48:06-04:00
