I use a water filter, so not personally. However, I did have a concern in regards to other people drinking bad water.. We had a terrible E Coli outbreak when a water source was contaminated.. We were told not to drink the water.. Also, for 2 months our water was so chlorinated many of us suffered chronic nose bleeds. I think it was from chlorine toxicity in the body..

I've lived off well water for decades now. It is straight H2O, without the city crap that's added. They only time I question the quality of water now is when I must drink city water. Then I can really taste the difference.

We use a Berkey for city water. People who have hypothyroid should not drink chlorinated water. I use it for cooking and coffee too.

I have been down range when many men were passing kidney stones. I never but I had a bruise calcify. I believe it was because of water.

My husband is concerned about plastic mimicking hormones.

Absolutely. I always do a google search everywhere I am stationed to see if it is a Superfund, and what has been done to clean it up. Sadly most military installations are Superfund sites.

I have well water and I do need to have it tested, but one should be concerned because landfills can contaminate aquifers. Old pipes in old cities can be equally contaminated. Plastic water bottles have chemicals that can contaminate that. However, if you get too carried away with things like this, it can make you obsessive and that is a slippery slope. Steroids and antibiotics fed to our beef on feed lots is a serious issue. Pesticides and herbicides drenching our soil is a huge issue. Air quality has improved but is still a serious issue. Can you think of anything else we might worry about? Obesity, ISIS, politicians oh, my!

I have never had any Camp Lejune water but I have drank water in third world countries, out of ditches, out of the garden hose and all sorts of other nasty stuff and never caught anything so my immunity must be pretty good.

Our BEE guys are responsible for water quality- his response is it is safe to consume as far as you know. Me- reverse osmosis at home and ruck it in. Bottled water when I can't.

I feel the water quality is safe in 99 of municipalities (except Detroit) based on all the various tests tht are required by gvts at all levels. If the water was to get contaminated I also feel comfortable that the system would pick it up pretty fast. I would feel less comfortable drinking untreated or unfiltered ground water from a natural well in this day and age. I suspect there is a great deal of contaminants floating around in ground water.

Water varies from post to post, but I always have a tap filter on my sink that I'll fill up water jugs with to take to work. Regular drinking fountain water in the company is probably fine in small amounts, but I imagine it could probably be dangerous for you in the long run. Even "Potable" water comes out of a big faucet, and not any different from what you drink out of your home or in the barracks.
