Is a soldier supposed to carry an M9 while in the Army Reserves center?

I have seen situations where a unit has given authorization for a Soldier to carry for security purposes. Especially if the Reserve center is not located on a military installation. Also the DoD passed guidance last year to allow private weapons to be carried on base with certain restrictions.

The AGR staff at my previous unit carried M9's on them, we also had a Recruiters Office there and the Recruiters were armed as well. Some Soldiers also carried their personal weapon concealed if they went through a few steps. Though the personal weapon thing was approved by the Governor as we're National Guard.

My new unit is on a military installation with armed MP's so less of an issue.

The Army Reserve was supposed to develop a security plan for all facilities that did not have full time security personnel. All "stand alone" facilities were authorized to "arm" certain personnel that were were trained and vetted as part of the facility arming plan. This was a result of the attacks on recruiting stations.

SSG Dennis Mendoza if their Commander authorizes they are allowed to be armed provided they have completed the proper qualification.

Although we've back off on it of late, for a while someone over drill--and even during the rest of the month when only AGRs were around--was designated to carry an M16 (its what we have) with a 10 round mag for security. I was one of the designates. Its a command discretion thing.

Majority of my time I've served in the active-duty component so this is my first time in the Army Reserves and I really don't know how things work, I'm still learning policies in the Army Reserve

I know for my USAR Division (807th), there is an Armed Guard policy that there will be at least one armed person in the building at all times. They will carry the M9 and they have to be currently (within the last year) qualified that weapon, as well.

Details? There are a hundred different reason why person is supposed to, or not supposed, to carry a weapon at a Reserve Center?

Please this is just a general question, I was just wondering because of my lack of experience in the Army reserves. Majority of my military career has been active duty.
