Is a so called REAL ID needed if you have a regular military ID card, if you have to go on a military base?

Some states have not made the transition to the real ID system for their driver licenses, I have never had a problem using my military ID to get on a base. Some bases are requiring that the ID be registered in their DBIDS system, suggest you check with the particular base you are planning to visit.

I have never had an issue getting into military installations and there are a several in my area that I have visited. With that said, some installations require for you to be registered in their system if you are planning to visit.

When I go on to Anderson AFB with my wife who has a military ID, I have to bring my US passport to enter, and driver's license. The good thing is, I could be the driver of the vehicle. Lol

No if you have a Military ID, but you cannot get a "Real ID" with the government ID as proof. figure that one out.
