Ultimate Boot CD is completely free for the download, or could be obtained for a small fee. If you had somehow paid a ridiculous amount of money for it, you have most likely been fleeced. The least you could do is to make as many copies of the offical UBCD and pass it to your friends, relatives, colleagues or even complete strangers to minimize the per unit cost of your loss!

I would say Hiren's boot CD. But that is all i have ever used.

If you use an SSD as your boot drive, you should not be using most utilities, since they want to defrag, which is both unnecessary and destructive to your SSD. And with the cost of them plummeting, you should have at least a 500GB SSD as your boot drive these days...

I just manually erase junk periodically, and don't worry about it...

It depends on what the issue is you are trying to resolve, I have found that you have to hunt around quite a bit to find one that addresses the issue you are having. If you are on win7 or higher you should be just fine for the basic and mundane stuff like disk defrag, etc...
