In the Blue to Green program, is there a way to guarantee keeping your same AF specialty (as your new MOS) in the Army? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/in-the-blue-to-green-program-is-there-a-way-to-guarantee-keeping-your-same-af-specialty-as-your-new-mos-in-the-army <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am currently a 4N0X1 and I have thought about going to the Army to be a 68W. However, keep in mind that while your AF specialty may be similar to the Army MOS, nothing is ever exactly the same so you may have to attend an AIT program to get you caught up on the differences. Tried this 2 years ago with the Army’s big push for critical flight paramedics for their 68W(F). As a critical care/flight paramedic (civilian), it has taken me until my 18th to claw my way into a unit in the AF that even comes close to using my skill and knowledge. Moonlighted at nearly every duty station in order to maintain any relevance to medicine while checking in patients for the MTF. Spent 60 days during my time in the ROK flying with an Army unit and teaching TCCC/CLS and accomplished more than I would have at the fighter squadron. Had a great Squadron Commander who allowed the opportunity to go where I could be used for a little while. The traditional 4N is not the same as a traditional 68 W. Understand that before you jump in. Unfortunately, I have too much active duty time to make the switch. If it’s in your heart to make the switch, make it now, but be smart about it. It’s a different mentality for sure. The road can be bumpy in Big Blue if you have a Green mentality. There are opportunities out there to do some Green type stuff if that’s what you’re looking for, but it’s hard to stay away from the grip of mother ship (MDG) for long.
