In most others you can take a class and get a license to concealed carry fairly easily... given that, I&#39;m not sure what purpose this would serve.<br /><br />I have a concealed carry permit, and usually carry when I&#39;m hiking in areas where drug and human trafficking take place... if the ex special forces person wants to concealed carry, there is nothing stopping them in most of the country. Soldiers and Airmen not on AGR or Recruiting are allowed to carry a personally owned weapon concealed pending training and approval from their respective Commander in multiple States as well.<br /><br />For the Active Component and Reserves of each Branch this is not possible because they are under Federal authority. NG can do it because they are under State authority unless otherwise ordered. I think this should be expanded to our Active and Reserve counterparts. Be given a pistol qual, a training course, and Commander authorization per service member.<br /><br />Then all of you at Fort Couch should arm yourselves, train regularly, and teach others how to shoot, research your local laws before doing so. Some States have more Freedom involving firearms than others. It is too close to giving the military authority to operate on US soil. Protection at home is something that should always be in the realm of a civil authority. Israel is set up they way they are because they have no choice. They have a small population physically surrounded by multiple nations that wish to see them disappear off the map. We don&#39;t need retired SOF guys running around to protect the nation when we have multiple civilian agencies who already have that task. The smarter idea would be to increase their funding and training and not waste federal assets on old SOF guys. It is the civic duty of each citizen to be prepared to respond to crises, including violent attacks of whatever origin.<br />Every citizen should be trained at a minimum to safely and responsibly carry and operate a pistol and rifle.
