In BOLC I heard a 70B could go through the CLC3 Captain's Career Course and come out a 70K. Does any one know if this is still true?

Unless things have changed since I retired in 2011, that's not true. You'd still have to attend the 70K course. My intel may be outdated though. I did CLC3 and wasn't awarded the 70K. Of course, I didn't pursue it either, but moving into that AOC based off my only advanced course attendance wasn't possible.

That is not true (unless you are USAR). While CLC3 is a great step towards 70K, your assignments and AOC designation board will determine if you will be a 70K. CLC3 does give you a secondary AOC of 90A which makes you cometative to command a BSB at the O-5 level. I went to AMEDD CCC but attended the 70K course (8 weeks) then will take a 70K position. All these factors help you track MEDLOG. I'd update your ORB to reflect a projected AOC of 70K and get in contact with the Kilo branch and let them know your intentions. I find the MEDLOG course more beneficial because you are able to meet with Branch and speak with senior 70K officers. In CLC3 you'll simply be surrounded by a bunch of 90A.

Things might have change since 1990 when I did an HSMO 70K correspondance course and then a 2 week resident course at Ft. Sam Houston. I went on to take the CLC3 before I had my command time. I was the HSMO for 245 Medical Company (Clearing) during Desert Shield/Storm, a National Guard unit out of OKC, OK.

You don't come out a 70K (that's a separate course) but you do get the 90A designator and have more career options/possibly a better shot at going to 70K. I'm headed to CLC3 in a couple months and am a 70B / 70H.
