If you were to run for public office, what level of government would you run for? What would be the most important issue you would stand on?

If you were going to make the decision to run for a public office, what level of government would you like to run for? Why would you choose this level of government? What issues would you have the biggest opinions about and how would you utilize your views to gain support? What political party would you be affiliated with as you ran for office? Would you fill your subordinate offices with personnel that agrees with everything that you believe in or people that disagreed with you on certain things?

Id run for president, and my platform would be the mind your own fucking business platform. If you want to smoke weed while shooting off your guns in a safe direction with your same sex spouse who is a devout catholic going through a gender reassignment surgery that's cool, if you don't want to bake them a cake that's fine too, whatever just leave people alone.

Probably the local school board and here's a couple of reasons why...1) I'm not a millionaire or have millionaire benefactors, so state and federal level is out. 2) I've had three kids go through public schools in 3 states / 5 school districts and am familiar with most of the issues. As for the other questions, I have big opinions about everything. Can I start a viable 3rd party? (Bull Moose 2) Don't want "yes men," but need "doers" not "talkers."

I wouldn't, but if I did it would depend on cash available and electability. If I had the resources, either a large city Mayor or Governor of a troubled city or state. Party - Independent/Libertarian if I thought I could get the votes. Issues - economy (jobs, waste, indicators), homeless, healthcare (availability/affordability), crime/gangs, drugs (prevention, addiction), white collar crime and corruption, justice reform, environmental protection/conservation, and energy (alternative and optimization). Staffing - I'd staff based on qualifications and proven past performance without regard for party or political connections; people willing to compromise, do what is right, speak their mind, exhibit unquestioned integrity, and work long hours with minimal supervision. Gain support by being fair and transparent, doing what is best overall, being willing to admit errors and show a plan to correct them, and achieving measurable and significant results that improved the overall lifestyle and dynamics of the constituents and area of responsibility.

Running for office seems like a sure fire way to get your name dragged through the gutter. So, no, I wouldn't run for office. However, if I were to run for office, I want to go to congress. I am interested in policies that make it easier to start and run small businesses, that help people without making them dependent on the government, and that break the military/industrial complex without breaking the military itself. I would run as a Republican because I couldn't get elected as the Libertarian that I am. I would select the best staff I could find, preferably smarter folks than myself, not necessarily those in agreement because I'm not looking for yes men, but people that encourage me to represent in the best way possible.

SGT Joseph Gunderson: It's been said before, but, I would run for President. I would work on working out a Peaceful resolution to the U.S. versus North Korea conflict. And, I realize that I am incredibly naïve. I am also an idealist and a realist.

I have no interest in being a public figure. I have no money or supporters to finance an election campaign, either.

We had a recent race for state legislator in which one of the candidates spent $3M to get elected to a part-time job that pays ~$35k.
