I got the honor of serving in the Big Red One. I knew of the movie behind it, but when I got to Riley it was more than the movie, and I wish I could go back and do it again. 1st Devil BDE, 1st Infantry Division. What or where would you serve?

I have served with the 101st Airborne and the 10th Mtn. I would be honored to serve with either one again if given the opportunity.

I served in the 101st Airborne Div. (Air Assault) as well. Some of the best, well trained soldiers in the U.S. army! HOOAH!

Probably the one thing no one expects anyone to say, but I'd like to go back to TRADOC. There was an actual sense of accomplishment there. Being in a combat unit that isn't deployed feels like being in a hamster wheel...

If time wasn't a factor...the 6th Tennessee Cavalry
In my own time...I would've liked to command a PC

Sir I can respect your choice, but why a Confederate unit? Or was it the whole Tennessee thing, not so much the politics of it?

SSG Swan-The 6th TN was, in point of fact, a Union outfit (I believe there was a CSA unit under the same name as well)...My ancestor was a Trooper in the 6th and captured by the CSA, dying of illness at Andersonville Prison. Most of the members were subsistence farmers from West Tennessee who either had religious objections to slavery, or ideological opposition to leaving the Union (pretty common in TN). They were a pretty controversial unit, and considered by some to be "traitors"...and heroes by others fearful of units such as Quantrill's Raiders. Like most things in history...I'm sure the truth is murky at best.
