Were I in the RA, I would want Europe. Anywhere. USAG Benelux would be ideal because my wife and I LOVE the lowlands.

For the first time I got my first pick for my next assignment going to Benning to be an MCCC instructor. However, that was my top realistic goal. If I could actually get anywhere, I know there are a handful (maybe less, but they exist) of Armor officer slots in Australia. Working with the Aussies would be cool, I'd love to spend more time over there and, oh yeah, my wife's from there. She's never complained but I do feel a little guilt about pulling her away from her home to the other side of the planet and told her I'd take any position I could get that would let her go back home.

I would go back to Fort Knox. With my current assignment, we DEROS at one week over 25 years TIS for me. The Fort Knox area is where I think we want to retire and a final assignment would be very nice.

That's a good question. If I could go anywhere?? I would say back to Rock Island Arsenal. I was only there for 10 months and it was awesome. The area was great, I had met some great leaders also. I am just being assigned to Cadet Command, so I am hoping this will be that one great place, I will never want to leave.

wirhout a doubt, Australia if you can find a way. Germany is a great family move. Alaska (anchorage) is great! and any place in florida. ive been to all and lived in 3 of them, they are far better then anywhere in the states (exclude alaska). Most people will never go to these places or be able to afford vacations there. Take advantage of it while your in.

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. I spent a week there...granted, it was in the spring, but I loved it and love the idea of living in Alaska.

Right now at 64 days out from DEROS, I'd just like to have an assignment out of Korea...someday soon!

The Presidio of Monterey at the Defense Language Institute. My branch manager helped me get back to there as an MLI in August. The best duty station in the Army I've been to so far.

There's 142 (ish) countries to be assigned to in the Defense Attache System ranging from 12-36 months. It can be a lottery, but nothing beats an embassy assignment. As it stands it is MOS immaterial for Army enlisted, but restricted to FAOs for officers and MI CW2s for warrants. All other services are somewhat similar and represented. I was in Moldova, and it was my best assignment thus far. So, my trump card for branch would be back in the DAS.
