If you could do your career completely over, would you have changed anything? Knowing then what you know now?

Personally, I would have either gone 18D SF medic, or PJ. It wasn’t until late in my career that I even found information on these jobs. Now that I’m a civilian medic, finding happiness in medicine, I would have gone that route through the military.

Yes, I would not have volunteer for for service. I was a 20 yr old sophomore at Notheastern Un Phys Ed major on the Varsity baseball team . I had bright future ahead of me. I earned the Green Beret in extremely tough MOS. I was Special Ops Diver, we pins crossed , mountains and desert operations trained. Had multiple missions out of Ft Bragg with the 6th SF Group serving several ODA Teams usually the only Medic. I did not re enlist because I realized what I was doing was susidial. As a citizen solider I returned to a more hostile invirioment than the one I just left. The draft dodgers that went to Canada to get their degrees were welcomed home with amnesty. I was spit on and hid the fact I was a solder until recently. I suffered from untreated PTSD .... unpredictable disruption behavior without my permission.... until 2 yrs ago when I went to the VA Medical. They Dx me right away and provide me treatment that helps, I got VFW help to get 100% total and permanently disability service related. I would say all Special Forces get PTSD because of training and missions.
I had become a warrior and am a warrior. Trying to be anything else is near impossible!
