If you could confront an internet warrior, what would you do?

With the internet, you can be a stud, a beautiful woman, a SEAL, GB, ANYTHING. Normally you see these Hero's talking the most junk or talking about how bad ass they were on deployment. Then the "new" caliber of internet hero's are the SuperVets...the guys who have gotten 15 PH,'s was nominated for the MOH and served in the Blackest units. If you could meet one what would you do?

I had the absolute pleasure to confront a car forum troll a few years back! I kept my cool, asked very deliberate questions, and then told him who I was/username... the look of discomfort was incredibly satisfying! Granted though, his e-thug'ery never included race, religion, or family insults so there was never any real intention to escalate past a little intimidation.

Mostly tell them to go away, and then ignore them. I actually know one in RL, claims he is Airborne and ranger qualified yet the man has never been to Ft Benning. I stopped the conversation when i heard that... I do know he was a SSG in Nam.. So that part of his story checks out... but never been to Benning???

I used to let my wife handle it. She's patient enough to let them dig a deep hole then she essentially bulldozes the dirt back on top of them. On one forum we belonged to, there was a guy who claimed to be at nearly every hot spot that came up. Started out he was in the Army, then the Marines, and even both at the same time. He claimed to be in Beirut during the bombing in '83 and then part of the invasion of Grenada (for those that don't know, the bombing and Grenada invasion were two days apart; October 23 was the bombing and the 25th was the invasion). Of course, he later deployed to Panama, then Desert Storm. He then claimed multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. In between all that, he and his "group" were "tasked with black ops and missions of a sensitive nature for the FBI and CIA". He then "retired" in 2005.

My wife let him dig and dig and dig. When it appeared he had revealed his entire story, she fired up the dozer and pushed. She reminded him about the dates of Beirut and Grenada and hit him with the fact that 14 year olds cannot enlist in the military. She then reminded him that the unit he claimed to deploy with to Panama did not actually deploy. She threw him a bone and said, "thank you for your service in a Desert Storm, my husband was there too, though his stories aren't so epic as yours." Then the real punishment began. She asked him how he could perform these "special missions" while he was living with his parents at (she then listed the street name and city, even provided a Google earth image of his parents' house). Asked him how he could deploy with units after receiving a bad conduct discharge. And there were other details she nitpicked on. Then she told him he must have been a pies poor soldier and/or marine because none of us has ever known anyone with a minimum 23 years of active duty military service, multiple combat deployments, and retired an E-6.
We never heard from him again.

You see, my wife was a research analyst for the FBI's Joint Terror Task Force. This means she knows how to find information and she's very patient.

The way i figure it there is something with an individual like that, they have no life and have to retreat to a Walter Mitty pretend world. Often they have mental problems. Seems there are more former Green Berets, Seals etc.than ever served in those units. It doesn't take long to spot the phonies with the total lack of knowledge of what unit they were, the uniform, the time period and a host of other things. Pretty pathetic.
