If you could choose to live in a different time period, when would it be?

Lately I have thought what it would be like to live in a different time. Of course I would take my family back with me as well. If I could I would choose to be at the same stage in life I am now but in a different time period I think I would chose the 1970's. The cars were just fantastic, people didn't really "live" on the internet quite yet, things were simpler. But at the same time it's not so far back that technology didn't exist. When would you chose to go??

I would also consider the American revolutionary period. Technology at a low. I could learn to farm and really live off the land.

That would depend on the extent to which I could also control my location, wealth and social status during that time.

Assuming complete control over all three, I would choose to be a Governor of Britannia Superior during the early third Century. It was a relatively peaceful time and most of my time and energy would be spent managing construction projects.

I would love to live in the mid- to late-1800s Texas, only without slavery, Civil War, and with modern medical advancements. :)

SPC Chad Kolod as you, I would choose 70's, but from 69 on. I would have love to see the very beginnings of Rush and Neil Peart. Having a Super Beetle and have road trips often. That would be great.

The romantic/historian wants to say France around 1050A.D. And see armored knights, chivalry, etc. But the historian in me also remembers statistically I'd be a peasant or burned as a sorcerer once I install plumbing and running water in my home. I guess that's true about almost any time I pick outside of the last two hundred years. Maybe post Spanish American war Cuba, post world war 2 France, or 1980 America.

The 40's, when Harley Davidsons and Indians (the motorcycle, lol) were at their best.

In particular, I would get a 1948 Harley Panhead and a 1946 Indian Chief Black Hawk.
