Some of my proudest memories are from serving in a combat zone. I'm not saying that I would ever want a horrific act like 9/11 to occur again, but if it did I would be at the front of the line.
SFC Brian Whisenant Sat, 25 Jan 2014 22:01:19 -0500 2014-01-25T22:01:19-05:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 1 at 2014 12:52 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/if-there-was-another-9-11-incident-would-you-go-back-in?n=191670&urlhash=191670

I will most likely still be until they kick me out. Not sure what use they would have of an old salt - but if asked, I would serve without hesitation. Many a military man was either recalled or asked to go back during WWII / Korean Conflict. While I don't forsee such a large scale even such as WWII, one cannot predict the future, nor should one dwell on "what might....". I tried when 9/11 happened and was told that they did not need retired personnel. If they did not need/want me back then I know they will not take me back in if it happens in the future.

I even offered to go back in and fill a Recruiter or Recruit Training billet since that would fill a billet and free up a Sailor for deployment to a ship or station who was otherwise wasted. Once again was told that I was to old to go back in on ACDU and I was only 54 at the time. Since I had retired at 30 I even asked if it would be possible to go back as a CMDCM and fill a sea billet or other place; No, NO,NO! so I know the answer for now and future. (and no, I am not whining in my Wheaties.) CMDCM Gene Treants Sat, 02 Aug 2014 22:31:57 -0400 2014-08-02T22:31:57-04:00 2014-01-24T13:08:24-05:00
