If there was another 9/11 incident, would you go back in?

One of the reasons why I crossed over into the Air Force was due to 9/11. There is no doubt that if something like that ever occurred that I would try and go back in. That is, if I am not too old by then, hahaha.

A) Heck Yeah! Non sibi sed patriae! ("Not for self, but for country.")

B) No, I've seen enough in my lifetime

C) Maybe; depends on the circumstances

Even though I am officially retired after 27 years of service, I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to go back in if I was allowed.

There is no doubt I would do it all over again. Some of my proudest memories are from serving in a combat zone. I'm not saying that I would ever want a horrific act like 9/11 to occur again, but if it did I would be at the front of the line.

Oh wow.....Good question ABE3! Not sure what use they would have of an old salt - but if asked, I would serve without hesitation. Many a military man was either recalled or asked to go back during WWII / Korean Conflict. While I don't forsee such a large scale even such as WWII, one cannot predict the future, nor should one dwell on "what might....".

Nope. I tried when 9/11 happened and was told that they did not need retired personnel. If they did not need/want me back then I know they will not take me back in if it happens in the future.

I even offered to go back in and fill a Recruiter or Recruit Training billet since that would fill a billet and free up a Sailor for deployment to a ship or station who was otherwise wasted. Once again was told that I was to old to go back in on ACDU and I was only 54 at the time. Since I had retired at 30 I even asked if it would be possible to go back as a CMDCM and fill a sea billet or other place; No, NO,NO! so I know the answer for now and future. (and no, I am not whining in my Wheaties.)
