If someone were to enlist in the Army National Guard today, how long is the wait to ship out to BCT?

Anyone that has recently enlisted, what is the wait time to ship out? Just wondering if they are backed up due to COVID19?

It all depends on the MOS chosen and when there is a school slot. In theory a person could sign the dotted line, swear the oath and ship out for BCT within two weeks and yes that is subject to change to longer or less depending on schools, MOS and other factors. Some MOS's are backed up by months, due to amount joining. Some are backed up due to lack of SM's to join the class and flesh it out.

Depending on your state quotas, you could wait as long as 6 months to ship and as little as month MOS and Basic dates lining up dependent.

My son just enlisted, there wasn’t any slots for the MOS he wanted, he had to wait 4 months before a slot opened up and shipped four months later. The recruiters did mention that if you are HS you can lock in a year out based on critical needs of the Army and NG but they usually want you to be locked in between the 6-9 month mark and always want to ship you as quickly as possible since the Gen Z folks have a nasty tendency of doing crazy stuff that makes them ineligible to ship later in, or they just walk away and don’t report.

These have always been issues but more so today than ever from some of my friends in recruiting. They try and get signees into RSP type units to keep them engaged and prep them for basic, but even then they have more attrition than they would like!
