He has been as PFC for 7 years and some changes by the time he gets out. He is wondering if he would receive any RCP as usually what time to discharge for ASAP failure ? If someone is getting chaptered out for ASAP failure, but has been in for a long time, would they receive any RCP money? 2019-11-27T17:47:41-05:00 PVT Private RallyPoint Member 5283022

I got a friend that he will be chapter out for ASAP failure. He's been in 7 years and he's been a PFC this entire time?
Is ASAP failure Army Substance Abuse Program failure?
I know of no program that would allow a PFC to stay in for 7 years let alone receive money from the army for ASAP failure. Your friend is looking at an OTH discharge and loss of benefits. And to (possibly) receive RCP pay, SMs must meet these requirements:

Full Pay - To qualify for full pay, the member must be involuntarily separated, be fully qualified for retention and the service must be characterized as "Honorable." Examples would be separation due to reduction in force, or separation due to exceeding the high year of tenure.

Half Pay - To qualify for half pay, the member must be involuntarily separated, with service characterized as Honorable or General (under honorable conditions), and the reason for discharge must be under certain categories. Examples would be discharge due to failing fitness/weight standards or involuntary discharge due to parenthood.

So....again, not getting RCP pay is the least of the concerns your friend is facing. Then he would be required to join the Reserves for three years to be eligible for full separation pay.
The different types and eligibility are in AR 637-2 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 28 at 2019 12:32 AM 2019-11-28T00:32:47-05:00 2019-11-28T00:32:47-05:00 2019-11-27T17:47:41-05:00
