I’m actually going through the process of transferring from MI to SC right now.
What you would need to do is send these following documents to your reserve branch manager;
- College transcripts
- Signed memo from your unit commander
- Written letter stating why you want to transfer
- Find a unit with a vacancy that’s willing to take you (The most important part)

Let me know if this helps!! 2LT Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 29 Nov 2018 22:10:07 -0500 2018-11-29T22:10:07-05:00 Response by LTC Jason Mackay made Nov 29 at 2018 10:14 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/if-possible-what-would-be-the-steps-for-army-reserve-o1-to-transfer-branch-before-bolc?n=4170234&urlhash=4170234

2LT Private RallyPoint Member AD branch transfers are either immediately following accession or at the three year mark. The reserve components are more fluid, in general terms. The process at the three year mark is the gaining and losing branch has to agree. If either branch says no, you don't go. It starts with a branch manager conversation. The post accessions process is different.

looking at your profile, you are two years in and haven't done BOLC? Reserves are going to be a different beast and Guard it is up to the MSC commanders & the "TAG." One of your peers stated that they are going through this process. My advice is to start an IM between you two. Also do yourself a favor, include your unit commander. All it takes is for the potentially receiving unit to call your commander and ask about you to get a bad impression. If the receiving unit hears, "This is the first I have heard of this," you can kiss acceptance from the receiving unit goodbye.
