In short, if your ETS falls within the first half of the deployment, you do not deploy. If your ETS falls after the midpoint of the deployment, you can deploy, but you redeploy early in order to transition out. I was a month away from my ETS date when my unit deployed and sure enough I got my lovely orders and was in the stop loss and it extended my time.
