Second he does not have a real, solid path to the nomination. He is too far behind, too late in the game. If he wants a political future, then he should cut his losses now, withdraw, build his support base, and try again in four years. The way it is going now, the Republicans need to be thinking about four years from now. They may well be already doing so. Donald Trump as the front runner is expendable. He is not a part of the party base. He can be run as a token candidate, conceding Hillary's coronation, then hit hard in four years making her a one termer. Of course that would be predicated on the nation not tearing itself apart over the next four years which it may well do. Going back to the original question, if Rubio, stays in, and loses badly, he is finished. He becomes the presidential candidate that cannot even convince the voters in his own state that he deserves the promotion from Senator to President. That stigma will stay with him, ending his political career. Not just President, but it would likely cost him re-election to his senate seat. That would leave him on the outside looking in for the 2020 cycle. On the other hand if he withdraws, throws his support behind the candidate, and bides his time, he could be the candidate in four years. Then he would just have to beat HRC in the general election. Let's wait and see where his pride leads him. Pride is the only thing keeping him in the race. With each primary he falls further behind Cruz and Trump.
