If it was an American Fighter Pilot burned alive or 21 American Christians that were beheaded; how would the US respond?

Would we be responding differently if these were our citizens? Would the Country demand it? I honestly can't see that if that pilot were American that we all wouldn't be on the next flight over there. Do you agree with that and should it matter what nationality the person is that is a victim on international terrorism by ISIS?

I don't think that the administration wants to get embroiled in the conflict, so I don't think it would matter in terms of policy.
I do think that they are working hard to try to get the Arab States interested in cleaning up their back yard, and those two events seem to have galvanized Jordan and Egypt.

American citizens have already been beheaded - did it change anything - No.
A pilot burned alive - it would get my blood boiling, but I can't say the same about the President, and the perceived alliance/protection he has for the Muslim terrorists, not to mention the red tape, double speak and non-military micromanagement of the response.

I have little faith, no matter how well intended it might be - our current system is inherently set up to fail.

This administration did nothing to help the Marine jailed in Mexico. It’s done nothing to help the Christian minister jailed in Iran. It’s done nothing when our citizens have been beheaded in Iraq by ISIS. Now if you were a traitorous muslim convert like Bowe Bergdahl then our fearless leader will empty out Gitmo to get you released.

How many Americans need to be murdered in cold blood for this president to have a "King of Jordan" moment? He takes the deaths all in stride, perhaps a few more air strikes but no plan, no strategy, no energy or passion on elilminating the scurge that is ISIS. We're so used to looking at things from a Global Stability standpoint, we forget that this is a Regional Stability issue.

As 1SG Private RallyPoint Member comments, this is the Middle East's "backyard." It's not even our "neighborhood."

We've been fighting Terrorists so long we thing we have ownership on them, but ISIS is only our problem if we make it our problem. It is a Middle East issue, not a Global one. Now, "we" may have been the most recent government to kick the anthill, so we bear some responsibility for this, however this is a longstanding issue.

But a better metaphor is us going into a hoarder's house, and knocking over a cup. The place was a mess when we got there. We can't be responsible for cleaning the entire house.

Now, as for the issue of the victims. The race, religion, etc, are largely irrelevant. What is relevant is the "scene of the crime." ISIS targeted easy prey. They grabbed who they could. Inside the region.

- Given current US leadership, we would not respond differently in terms of military in the near term. The public speaking rhetoric would increase temporarily but only to show that "we are doing something" and would decrease after the problem became overcome by something else in the news cycle.
- The above is not a guess. It is an educated statement based upon recent past US actions such as Bengazi. In that case a US Ambassador and other US citizens were murdered yet what were the US follow up actions? POTUS promised the killers would see justice. That has not happened. The FBI did not/could not get into the murder site for about 30 days after. Congressional investigations have led nowhere. etc.
- Another example was the two US citizens who were beheaded in Summer 14. Now a third (female at that) has been killed. US response. Ineffective and small scale at best.

Why should it matter! They are thugs. Someone is backing them and getting them good stuff from what I have seen in the news. UNIFORMS. Really. Should be like back in "01" ROLE out and seek, find and DESTROY the enemy! What will it take? A France happening here or another World Trade Center to get this country to see that it is REALLY happening.

I believe america would be boots on ground inside of 100 hours, that being said I personally feel that would not necessarily be the best response. As a member of the international community our response should fall along the path of our similarly effected members. This is a direct attack aimed at the moral of the Jordan government and people and not responding will look bad and show their people we that there government is weak or doesn't care causing unrest. So its kinda a catch 22 question.
