If it has been more than 90 days since my initial counseling and flag (APFT failure), is there anything I can do if I can't pass a retake?

Took a pt test got flagged we've been doing alot of training in the past months ,had a baby came back from parental leave and was told I had a pt test (last chance) it has been more than 90 days of my initial counseling and flag is there anything i can do if i cant pass it?

Physical fitness is a personal responsibility, conducting training and paternity leave will be no excuse for failing a pt test. The fact you cany do a measly 42, 56, and some abysmal 2 mile time should make you reconsider career options.
However, the good news is that legal will probably throw the packet back and the flags will be dropped. Until they administer another apft because you are still missing a current score for DTMS, then they will restart the process and you will back where you started.

PT like your gear readiness is your responsibility. You can't blame the unit for training, nor the baby. It is your problem to fix. They gave you a flag as a warning to get moving, and evidently you ignored it. Fail this next time and you could end up back as a civilian, looking for work.They have given you 90 days to get ready and you did not use it- and it will be doubtful if you can fight it, if you manage to win, it will only be temporary as you seem to ignore the warnings.

CPL Private RallyPoint Member, from reading your words, there may be nothing more you can do. It sounds like you were given more than the required time to prepare. In another thread SGM Erik Marquez explained the process and the requirement for the commander to initiate separation after the second APFT failure. You can ask the commander for more time, but you've already shown that with 90+ days, you didn't use your time to fully prepare yourself. So that might not work for you.

I would suggest you give your next (and potentially last) APFT EVERYTHING you've got. You'll literally be running to save your career and family's livelihood. Get someone to be a pace runner who stays just ahead of you, so that you can chase the rabbit. Don't let anything stop your forward movement, especially those internal voices telling you to quit. If you need to vomit, vomit on the move.

I failed my 2nd APFT. Whats next? | RallyPoint

So to start off I'm not asking for pitty or an excuse, I own up to it and I failed multiple pt tests,I just want to know what's next. So basically 4 months ago I failed my record apft. 3 months pass, no remedial PT. And I fail my second by 10 sec. Did not get taped at the end. They sent me to 3 1 week courses all over the US for training right before the last. So I was hurting. What's next ?

If you can't pass a re-take, as you're asking, then there is nothing you can do. Pass the PT Test, plain and simple. Stop making excuses for why you can't and just do it. I had a four year break in service years ago having done no working out in that time and started training two weeks before I reported to my unit. I got a PT Test the first day I showed up and I passed. It's that simple. 90 days is 3 months, so you've had more than enough time to get yourself to where you can pass the PT Test. If you still can't, then the military is not for you.

Thank you for posting CPL Private RallyPoint Member an interesting question. To be honest I would recommend that you:
1. do your best to build yourself up to pass the APFT.
2. let your chain of command know you intend to do your best to meet the APFT standards.

As other folks have said in this string, PT testing is a big deal in the Army. If you can't pass the test, consider a civilian occupation.

AR 350-1 states the 2nd record PT test must be within 90 day. Literally say NO TO EXCEED 90 DAY in parentheses.

They can’t start the chapter process and have to give you another 90 days. Good lunch

commander desecration you show improvement then you can keep going if no then they have every right to submit a chapter really based on your unit

When were you flagged and when did your post-pregnancy profile expire? By regulation, you have 180 days from the first failed Record APFT to improve upon before taking another Record APFT. In between those 180 days you can take diagnostic PT tests to see your level of improvement. If you were pregnant and had an uncomplicated birth, your post-pregnancy profile is good for 6 months to allow you to recover.
