AN Kae Graham4018499<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I understand that if I withdraw from a course and reduce my credit hours , there will be an overpayment charged to me by the VA; but what if I replace that class with one of equal value so that my credit hours remain the same? I heard they are essentially supposed to cancel each other out and that the school will handle the money with the VA without me having to pay the VA directly. Can anyone explain the process in detail? Perhaps I am confusing things. If I withdraw from a course worth 3 credit hours and replace it with one of equal value, will the VA charge me an overpayment?2018-10-04T12:22:01-04:00AN Kae Graham4018499<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I understand that if I withdraw from a course and reduce my credit hours , there will be an overpayment charged to me by the VA; but what if I replace that class with one of equal value so that my credit hours remain the same? If it is not & is after the time frame, they might not cover it.Response by PFC Steven Kleiner made Oct 4 at 2018 12:59 PM2018-10-04T12:59:21-04:002018-10-04T12:59:21-04:00Maj John Bell4018595<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>By no means am I throwing rocks at the RP Board of Experts, but if I were you, I'd ask the Military and VA rep at your college's financial office.Response by Maj John Bell made Oct 4 at 2018 1:05 PM2018-10-04T13:05:11-04:002018-10-04T13:05:11-04:00PFC Steven Kleiner4018605<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You are welcome. I used to be a Veteran's Rep at 2 different colleges. You always want to reach out to your VA rep either at the school, or VA themselves. They are the only ones who can answer fully.Response by PFC Steven Kleiner made Oct 4 at 2018 1:07 PM2018-10-04T13:07:54-04:002018-10-04T13:07:54-04:00SPC Casey Ashfield4018657<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The VA does not offer money indiscriminately based on your credit hours. They also use the course CRN numbers to verify the classes they are paying for are in line with your end degree goal and your current declared major. Talk to your VA rep, they will more than likely have a class change form where you can swap classes to avoid payment hiccups.Response by SPC Casey Ashfield made Oct 4 at 2018 1:29 PM2018-10-04T13:29:47-04:002018-10-04T13:29:47-04:00PO1 Don Gulizia4018798<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I used the GI Bill to earn two Master's Degrees and used a state VA benefit to cover tuition for my daughter and wife, so I'll offer you this advice. Get a feel for the college's VA rep before you believe what they are telling you. I attended Troy University and they were great. I never had any problem using my benefits. However, my daughter attended ODU and it was a mess. The school's "VA/Military Rep" was an idiot. Being in the largest Navy town, Norfolk, you would think they were familiar with VA benefits. Nope. It wasn't any better at No. Virginia Community College. My wife had to jump through hoops to get anything done at NOVA. Hopefully, Georgia State has great reps. If not, continue to find those that have gone through the process, successfully, and ask for advice. I'm sure there are some vets at GSU that can assist you. Good luck.Response by PO1 Don Gulizia made Oct 4 at 2018 2:17 PM2018-10-04T14:17:05-04:002018-10-04T14:17:05-04:00CWO3 Private RallyPoint Member4019067<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Ask VA rep at school.Response by CWO3 Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 4 at 2018 4:21 PM2018-10-04T16:21:00-04:002018-10-04T16:21:00-04:002018-10-04T12:22:01-04:00
