If I want to go to a particular duty station, how can I maximize my chances of getting there?

It's not like I'm just choosing Florida or HI like everybody else, I want to go to Bragg or Drum. What are my chances of getting one of the two, say, as a 13B or 11X

If you go to Airborne school you have a really high chance of going to Bragg. For anything else you'll be placed at the needs of the Army. If you stay in longer you can reenlist for a choice of duty station later.

Now you are setting off alerts with me again Drum is 10th Mountain who work closely with 7th SFG and drug interdiciton in Panama so please tell me you are not part of the drug cartels? The Drug Cartels are dangerous but so are we and if you are trying to get classified info on 7th SFG and 10 Mountain I will get someone to find you...

As a 13B, you're chances of going to FORT BRAGG are very high. Because I was stationed in Germany my first two years of active duty and I tried to stay in Germany for the last two years of active serve; I was told I couldn't do that because I got orders to go to Fort Bragg, and when you get orders to Bragg you go to Bragg no questions asked

Have you even been to basic/AIT yet? You won't get a choice on your first duty station out of training. But if you're 13 or 11 series your chances are pretty good about going to one of those two I would think.

It was REALLY EASY when I was in (1972-1989) You went to Personnel, put in a request...and that was it. But then again If you had orders for Germany and wanted to go to say Korea like I did, you found someone with the same MOS and rank that wanted to swap.
I believe the rules have changed now.

As 11X there's a 50/50 you're going to Hood or Drum. Definitely training in Sand Hill though.
