I would even leave the gear on if I had to go to the cashier to pay. Anything more (or anyplace other than a gas station) and it is proper uniform.<br /><br />If you really want to stop and shop on your way home from your unit, change into civilian clothes BEFORE YOU LEAVE, then its a non-issue.
