If I take an assignment to Korea with only a year until I ETS, will I lose my terminal leave?

So I'm on assignment to korea this coming December. I get out january 2020. HRC told me I'll have to serve the whole tour with no leave. Is there anyway I can fight this?

Taking leave does not count against you as far as time served on the tour. I'm not sure why they told you that. Or were they referring to Terminal Leave?

I extended for an extra year in Korea since I had two years left on my contract when I got there for my one-year assignment. Not only did I take 30 days of leave in the middle of my tour, but I took my remaining 57 days on the tail end of it. There should be nothing preventing you from taking your leave. There's no regulation that states what HRC told you.

How can they restrict leave- you earned it and have to take it cause you will lose it if you go over days.

No you will not lose your transitional leave, there are many Soldiers who ETS from Korea and take their transitional leave.

You will have to have time remaining after you serve your 1 year tour in order to take the leave. Also you are allowed to take leave while you’re on the 1 year tour to Korea. I took 30days leave when I was stationed in Korea and I did not have to extend my 12 month tour. I hope this helps...Good Luck

You can have your leave. The only way you can't is if you get a bad chapter. Your unit will most likely let you take your leave from there. Enjoy Korea. It's a great place!

I'm currently stationed in Korea and I see many SM's who are here take leave. Some of them take leave 2 times in that year. 1 time in winter for Christmas leave and the next in the summer. Your terminal leave you will always be authorized. Korea is just another assignment just as if you were getting out of the army from a CONUS assignment. I think they were telling you to serve your whole time without leave so that you accumulate more leave to be able to take for terminal leave (i.e. taking like 30 days terminal leave or however much).

We have people ets from here all the time. They all got terminal leave
