If I re-enlist for longer than what was required (2yrs) does it make that requirement to stay in my PMOS obsolete? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/if-i-re-enlist-for-longer-than-what-was-required-2yrs-does-it-make-that-requirement-to-stay-in-my-pmos-obsolete

I am coming off of active duty on option 26, if youre not familiar its 2.5 years active duty, 2 years in the guard or reserve. However, Due to personal interests outside of the military I wanted to change my MOS for resume purposes to 31 series. I am a 13F at the moment its doing nothing for me. I did reenlist for 3 years in my current MOS into the guard, with a bonus (I have not received it, i dont come off of active duty until the 11th). However, I was told i cannot change my MOS, because it does say in my contract that i will stay in my PMOS for 2yrs in the guard or reserve following my active duty time.
My question, is if i had reenlisted for longer than what was required 2yrs, does it make that requirement to stay in my PMOS obsolete. Say i want 31 series so i reenlist, for 3 years to change my MOS?

thanks Mon, 03 Feb 2020 10:37:45 -0500 If I re-enlist for longer than what was required (2yrs) does it make that requirement to stay in my PMOS obsolete? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/if-i-re-enlist-for-longer-than-what-was-required-2yrs-does-it-make-that-requirement-to-stay-in-my-pmos-obsolete

I am coming off of active duty on option 26, if youre not familiar its 2.5 years active duty, 2 years in the guard or reserve. The only lass is you won't get the specific bonus. Or you can most likely still change your MOS in the Guard and still be eligible for whatever bonus you would get if there was one.

That being said, being an MP in the RC is not going to do anything for your resume. If you're looking to be in law enforcement and join the RC, then stay a 13F or switch to 11B, you will be working with tons of police officers who are 11B in the National Guard. Alway remember to ask questions about any/all things that your truly interested in while moving forward in life, before you sign your life away. All the best to you :-) .
