If I'm reclassing into a 42A mos in an infantry unit, do we go to the field with them and what would we do?

So I'm currently an 88m that is reclassing but I have no idea of what to expect at all with it. Although I do know what the job covers im just not entirely sure how it would work because I'm used to the field and missions, not sitting at a desk which I don't mind because the job is relevant to my major in college. And how would the reclass work?

Yes. 42A still perform field work. Although in different capacities, they still have to go to the field.

Yes you will go to the "field".
Depending on your unit and state, that could mean 2-3 drills and AT where you are set up in a tent or a building, with a laptop, and you would leave that to complete IWQ.

Your reclass starts with a 4 week 42A course at an RTI.
You would also need to get access to IPPS-A, iPERMS, RCAS, Record Brief, etc.

Is a 42A what used to be a 71H company clerk? If so, you back in the rear with the gear. In the 199th they stayed in the BDE main. Did there thing that they did Stateside, morning report, and routine admin stuff, with 201, health and finance (green one) files being main things to keep up and other things company XO might need. Occasionally might wander up to BDE Fwd. Every 3 weeks, busted tail when company back in for a down week taking care of their admin stuff. I guess counter insurgency not changed a lot, so probably same same today. In conventional setting hung with the BDE/BN trains and did about the same sort of things.
