If I have a star mos and I have already been to blc is it still required for me to go to the promotion board? How does DA Selection work?

Are you already promoteable? If not, I'd say yes, mandatory board policy in your primary zone still applies. Even if you were promoted 'automatically', I would still recommend attending a Promotion Board, or at least a Soldier/NCO of the Month Board. Otherwise you'll find yourself down the road trying to mentor and inspire subordinates through their own boards without having any board experience yourself...

Boards are required unless you are on the Mandatory List Integration. If you go that route however, you will only he given the points earned without the board appearance.
As far as the DA selection goes, that is for senior NCOs and officers. It is a long process, so itll be easier to watch this video, https://youtu.be/EF7cACxuUdg. Have fun!

Automatic integration is no longer a thing to my knowledge. It has been phased out with the most recent change to the promotion system for 5&6’s. But why try to get out of it?

Going to a board gets your face in front of the command. It shows your enlisted leadership how much you’ve prepared yourself. Use it to show your leadership in one why that you’re knowledgeable and ready to move up.

Go onto the HRC Enlisted promotions web page and under Hot Topics is a link for instructions for SGT and SSG promotions. This is the new policy that went into effect in May. As a future NCO this is something you need to know.
