If I already have an undergraduate degree, can I use TA for an associates or another undergraduate degree?

I’m looking to use TA to go back to school. I have already met with the ED center and I was left with more questions than answers.

I already have an undergrad and the counselor told me I couldn’t use TA to obtain an associates or another undergrad. From reviewing the regulation the o l’y thing i can find that says what type of degree i can see states, “ TA is authorized for - [...] B) No more than one credential in each of the following areas: 1)HSD 2) associate 3) baccalaureate 4) masters or first professional degree.”

I can’t find anything in the reg that says I can’t use TA for an Associates or another undergrad.

Am I misreading the regulation? Is it stated elsewhere that I must get a degree of a higher level than I already have?

This is straight from go army Ed stating you can only continue your education forward and cannot get a degree below what you already have

You can use TA for a graduate degree. So in your case a Masters. You cannot use TA for a PHD. So I was told by ArmyEd counselor.

Paragraph 5-7
TA funds will not be authorized for—
d. Courses leading to a lower or lateral postsecondary credential (except as noted for certification, certificate, or licensure in para 5–7d and for state education credential as described in para 5–6e) as described in the current Directory of Postsecondary Institutions, volumes I and II, published by the Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics. First professional degrees or certificates and graduate degrees or certificates will be considered equivalent.

I follow your reasoning, though I'd be curious specifically what bachelors you might have, and what other assocs or bachelors you might want...also, you likely have given thought to going grad level, if you're already at bachelors level...if so, with what object in mind? I'd seen you were LPN, I was just curious...also, I'll send you something, if I can find it, there's a program I did in fact use for a second bachelors, they had a rule for it, needing only 30 new credits, 15 assocs level, 15 bach level, I did it back then using the GRE subject tests, they allowed 30 pass-fail credits for each, given a minimum raw score (not percentile), though I was told they stopped the practice...they'd been a government program that privatized and split off from government, lemme see if I can find their stuff on their second-degree rule, I "think" they "may" have kept that in place, lemme check, OK? If you can elaborate, I'd be interested to hear more, sometimes, I've been told I can tend to overwhelm with too much info on here, I'm total perm disabled, though I was doctoral-level allied-health clinically trained, we shut my license several years ago because of the whole disability thing, though I can certainly try to suggest stuff if you'd wanna hear it at all, no rush, whenever you might have time, I was just curious...also, if you wanted other clinical training, for what specific area and/or type of environment clinically as well? knowing that, as well as grades, GPA, specific STEM and/or clinical coursework taken, might let both myself, as well as others on here, try to help you more effectively, that's all I'm trying to say, OK?

Only if you earned you degree before joining and a) you did not get the loan repayment program. b) you did not use it to get promoted to E4. c) if you earned it using TA, No!, you cannot use TA to attain a lower or lateral degree. At the end, go for the master's, it shorter that an AA and means more than a BS or BA.

You can use TA for an Assosiates Bachelors and Masters but only one of each and no PHD.
