Thomas Jefferson took it upon himself to edit out all the magic and miracle stuff from the Bible, leaving the morality tales and parables. He felt the Bible was a wonderful source for such things, just needed to lose the other stuff.

Also, there are lots of the book that is figurative, and lots that is literal, and it sometimes is difficult to tell the difference. Then, some people expect the Bible to be literal in it&#39;s entirety.

They all basically say the same thing and have the same recycled stories throughout all religions. The flood story didn&#39;t start with Christianity. Nor the virgin birth. The list goes on. <br /><br />If most Christians would actually read the Bible front to back they&#39;d be amazed what&#39;s in it. I can guarantee most haven&#39;t actually read it in its entirety. They learn the summarized versions from CCD or Bible Schools, etc. <br /><br />That goes with any other religious text too. Not just Christians or Abrahamic religions.

I think a lot of people do not understand how some of the things in the Bible were written so their interpretation gets skewed. The Bible is the inspired word of God, and God does not make mistakes. We as humans are very flawed and are prone to make mistakes just by being alive. God created the perfect world for us and Adam and Eve screwed it up for us, I can&#39;t wait to meet Adam and kick him in his backside for that. The good news though is that once we depart this life, we will not have to worry about sin and misinterpretations, blaming others, and guilt, and,,,, you get the point.
