A DWI, driving while intoxicated, conviction may pose a challenge, but doesn't necessarily eliminate you from joining the Army. According to the website Military.com, some crimes are essentially automatic disqualifiers. Others require that a recruitment officer submit a waiver on your behalf to gain enlistment.

In the Air Force now, specifically Security Forces, if you go to enlist with a DUI/DWI (any) you will be told thank you, no. In 2016 things changed and the language now says "May Never Have Been Convicted....". If currently serving, you will have a tough road, because the language calls for the removal from the career field.Response by CMSgt James Nolan made Nov 12 at 2018 4:16 PM2018-11-12T16:16:22-05:002018-11-12T16:16:22-05:00SGT Christopher Hayden4122309

Regardless of your Reentry code, you're going to need a waiver for your DUI.Response by SGT Christopher Hayden made Nov 13 at 2018 1:56 AM2018-11-13T01:56:56-05:002018-11-13T01:56:56-05:002018-11-12T09:10:47-05:00
