As in received a "U" for a day or a portion of a day of drill? I've never heard of anyone losing benefits for getting a "U."Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 5 at 2019 12:12 AM2019-10-05T00:12:36-04:002019-10-05T00:12:36-04:00SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member5092985<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>More information is for sure needed on this one. If they missed a portion of BA they should be fine, just have to go awhile for that to "drop off" their record. If they received enough for a separation packet then I would imagine their benefits are revoked. Yet by that time there should have been a counseling for this soldier stating the course of action to be taken, i.e. recovery or separation. <br />If they are having issues with depression and financial hardship I would direct them to some sources that provide guidance, Military One Source and the like.Response by SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 5 at 2019 11:15 AM2019-10-05T11:15:18-04:002019-10-05T11:15:18-04:00CW3 Private RallyPoint Member5099066<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It is an option the unit can take for sure. I have not seen it unless they are bad apples the unit is trying to push out. I have seen benefits stopped for multiple failed PT test so it is on the table. If as you say the soldier is good other than this hiccup I would think they will just look to work with them.Response by CW3 Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 7 at 2019 9:01 AM2019-10-07T09:01:57-04:002019-10-07T09:01:57-04:00CSM William Everroad5100424<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="343433" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/343433-31b-military-police">SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member</a>, if you are referring to Tuition Assistance, yes they will stop payment. per AR 621-5: "USAR and ARNG/ARNGUS personnel eligible for RC TA are Soldiers serving in an active status who are coded as a satisfactory participant."<br />As far as GI BILL 1606, they must maintain good standing in their unit.Response by CSM William Everroad made Oct 7 at 2019 2:45 PM2019-10-07T14:45:27-04:002019-10-07T14:45:27-04:00SP5 Joseph Ascanio5113986<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>YesResponse by SP5 Joseph Ascanio made Oct 11 at 2019 6:48 AM2019-10-11T06:48:35-04:002019-10-11T06:48:35-04:00MAJ Michael Cummings5368085<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As a prior commander from the national guard, I can positively say that if you are coded with a single U, you will lose your benefits. I took great pleasure in taking a soldiers benefits when they were more than willing to take the money for college but didn't want to attend drill. That being said, if a soldier had a good reason, I would also code them as excused and allow them to make up drill this saving their benefits. It all comes down to communication. Make sure you are communicating with your chain of command to prevent being coded as a U.Response by MAJ Michael Cummings made Dec 21 at 2019 11:29 PM2019-12-21T23:29:46-05:002019-12-21T23:29:46-05:002019-10-04T23:50:11-04:00
