In another situation, when I retired, I didn't even have to have an NCOER to clear. Response by SFC Joe S. That's not counting the large percentage who choose to retire in lieu of QMP. If you're up for it, you're more than 80% likely done. If you're selected, there's no reason for the Army to waste the money. Focus on separation plans. But yeah. More rare than a triple CIB, the Tomb Guards, a double Mustard Stain, or even the Astronaut Badge. I do know that There used to be a thing called CCF ( Corrective Custody Facility) that dealt with sm's where the COC felt the Sm could turn around and retain them in the military.I have been told this is a thing of the past and its a shame as everyone slips up and deserves a 2nd chance if they want one in the military ( depending on the infraction of course). Since deciding to get out next year I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to be able to do anything further with my career, and I am good with that because there are other soldiers who are staying in that need and want those schools.
