If a soldier is PCSing in the middle of August, should they go on the NTC rotation in June or stay back on rear D?

If I have a Soldier PCSing in August I am going to push that they do not go to NCT. You need to present it to the chain of command as to why. You will need to find out when their report date is, whey they final out, HHG pick up, CIF appointment, Selling a house, ECT ECT ECT. all these can play a huge roll of a stress free clearing process or a stressful clearing process.

We need more information to give you a better answer.

If the report date to the new unit is in mid-August, and the soldier has family, then I can see where the NTC rotation is probably too close to the report date (and the soldier should stay back on rear D). Given the time needed to attend initial appointments, clear the installation, have household goods picked up, travel to new duty station, etc., there doesn't appear to be sufficient time.

However, if we're talking about signing out in mid-August, and reporting to the new duty station sometime later (like early Sep. on), then that's completely different. Unless there's something critical in the soldier's circumstances (health issues, family concerns, etc.), it looks like there's plenty of time to return from NTC in late June and then prepare for the PCS in July, and then clear in August. So, I see no need to hang back on rear D.

SGT Cruthirds- if I had a 25 series with no inbound replacement then I'd suspect the Cdr is taking you to NTC. Signal sets up the back bone of the rotation. Best COA would be to deploy from
Home Station to NTC. Conduct RSOI and Force on Force and redeploy before Regen. I'd also ensure whatever my task is in the section is we'll know by the other 25 series. This COA would have you conducting Clearing before the rotation so when you came back all that is required is signing out.

The tough answer is, Mission First ! At what point are you no longer a member of the unit? how much time do you get to PCS, 10 working days to clear in my days. you can set up other things prior to leaving. Adapt , Improvise and Overcome. Your not the first one this has or will happen to, and I'm sure you don't like my answer. Tough, your a soldier and shit happens. Suck it up and drive on. Did something like this happen to me? Yes, and I learned valuable lessons from it that served me later in my career, so will you.

As long as the service member will have the time allotted to prep and our process as any other member does (as defined by the Garrison) then they should attend the training exercise. Thank you for your service.

I would say it all depends on whether or not they will contribute to the mission. If they're in a logistical position it may make sense, especially if they have Humvee/LMTV licenses. If they're in a combat MOS, it may not make as much sense as they wont be a part of any future deployment that JRTC is helping to ramp up to and they may be of more service in the rear helping to cover down on details that still need doing.
