Compared to what we used to have to do this is by far much easier. Yes it's all web based, but it is a pain in the ass!. 1. You have to have supporting docs. 2. Then you have to have the right codes/abbreviations to make sure the right doc is annotated. 3. Then you have to make sure it gets IPERMED. So yeah it may SEEM simple it's not. Giving ALL Soldiers the access rights to the systems to update their own records would be a monumental TRAINWRECK IMO.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 1 at 2016 2:43 PM2016-05-01T14:43:18-04:002016-05-01T14:43:18-04:00Jordan Gaudard1493292<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In a way I want to agree with you, but I also understand why the process is the way that it is. I am getting my first look at SFC this year and I've had to update my ERB three times already. Once when I corrected what I felt needed corrected, then when my 1SG and CSM found more things to correct, and finally when I got some of the required documents to prove items on my ERB to get it updated. It is a lot easier for me where I am stationed to walk in and get it corrected, if I had to do this at my last duty station it would not have been so easy. <br /><br />If you gave SSG and above the ability to update records, which you should be able to trust them in doing so. The biggest issue I can see is adding items that are not necessarily correct or not knowing how to undo a mistake. It may seem minor, but a lot of items on the records can be confusing and if removed it is much harder to recover.Response by Jordan Gaudard made May 1 at 2016 3:10 PM2016-05-01T15:10:18-04:002016-05-01T15:10:18-04:00MAJ Javier Rivera1493465<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Quality and Assurance control, just as a starter. There are strict regulations that cover those records and is imperative to keep as many hands of that cookie jar. Is the system frustrating? Yes, but is a lot better that years ago and is - slow like a snail process - improving.Response by MAJ Javier Rivera made May 1 at 2016 4:28 PM2016-05-01T16:28:00-04:002016-05-01T16:28:00-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1493597<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Because unfortunately some Soldiers aren't honestResponse by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made May 1 at 2016 5:09 PM2016-05-01T17:09:53-04:002016-05-01T17:09:53-04:00CW4 Private RallyPoint Member1493993<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Is this a trick question? We already have enough stolen valor going on amongst non-military and actual actively serving soldiers too. Having S/G-1's and career managers is a checks and balances process aimed to ensure that all records are accurately kept and within the regulations. I understand that some personnel sections have their issues with maintaining documentation and updating records in a timely manner, but giving that power to each soldier would be an extremely bad idea.Response by CW4 Private RallyPoint Member made May 1 at 2016 8:11 PM2016-05-01T20:11:35-04:002016-05-01T20:11:35-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member1495214<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There is too much room for error if a Soldier has access to update his own records. Not just from Soldiers falsifying data but from Soldiers genuinely making errors when uploading or updating documents. The current way may not be perfect but at least it puts an outside supposedly impartial set of eyes on your records when updating.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made May 2 at 2016 11:37 AM2016-05-02T11:37:30-04:002016-05-02T11:37:30-04:00COL Charles Williams1499196<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Good question...Response by COL Charles Williams made May 3 at 2016 11:43 PM2016-05-03T23:43:51-04:002016-05-03T23:43:51-04:00MGySgt James Forward1522224<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Seriously, You are kidding right? G1/S1 needs to do a better job in iperming docs... I've seen many soldiers turn in their docs to be permed, but it never happens. We have some AGRs who should not be AGRs, they are extremely lazy even though they are full time and have access to most systems, they get upset when a TPU soldier asks for something. RPACs should also go away... most of them are lazy people.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 15 at 2017 10:03 PM2017-09-15T22:03:20-04:002017-09-15T22:03:20-04:002016-05-01T13:08:05-04:00
