Is the future of electric cars going to be as resilient as gasoline- powered cars after the battery goes bad after 7 years?

I went to a custom car show yesterday. Even though this is a select group of people who love their classic cars, I don't think economies of scale is going to lower the price of rare earth minerals that are mostly from South America, China and Australia. I know that the inventory of electric cars is growing and subsidies from the Biden Administration picking winners and losers is going to help the situation because nobody legislated the internal combustion engine to be gone by 2035. Maybe some states have approved of the phase-out by the next 15 or 20 years but our power grid going with wind and solar and an occasional gas fired or nuclear-powered plant is not going to cut it when we have extremely warm weather.

People are talking about golf delta climate change. We have had three mini ice ages in 1650, 1770 and 1850.

The climate change Fanatics don't want to acknowledge that the Earth has been warming up since that time. We also have had a few ice ages and warming events without the intervention of modern man.

Late last year, I went to a natural history museum in Edmonton. It showed an example of the tree line in the mountains. Many of you don't know that the tree line is the highest point of which trees will grow. Since getting altitude also lowers the temperature, there comes a point when the trees won't grow anymore and it goes to moss, lichens or even just snow or glaciers on the mountains.

They had an illustration that 50,000 years ago the earth was warmer and the tree line was higher and during the last ice age about 10,000 years ago, the tree line is a lot lower. Now the tree line is kind of in the middle so the climate change fanatics don't want to understand that the Earth has variances in temperature caused by many factors and not by man. I wish I had taken that picture when I went to the museum to be able to prove what was written in the history museum because stupid AOC and climate change fanatics won't believe me. Just like with Dr Fauci, they say to follow the science but science is supposed to allow for differences of opinion and not that their funding will be cut or denied if the premise or the outcome of the hypothesis is that man is not at fault.

I'm sure that electric cars are not going to probably exceed more than 20% of the total car market especially if the infrastructure to charge these vehicles is not upgraded. So the Church of the Green New Deal is sitting on sand or as about as feasible as a three-legged chair.

This car show gives me hope that muscle cars and gasoline-powered vehicles Will Survive. I have included two different YouTube videos in the comments. One of them is a 57 Chevy with a 555 cubic inch V8 and has over 300 Grand invested. You will see it drive by with its lopy cam.

Let us not forget about the guy he didn't want to pay $22,000 for a replacement Tesla battery pack for his 2013 Tesla Model S. That will also be included in the comments.

This guy put over 300K into his car so he can afford the gasoline. Alberta and Saskatchewan are the Texas and Oklahoma of Canada so running out of fuel is not an issue. Getting the fuel to the USA is an issue because our dick head president canceled the Keystone XL pipeline on his first day in office so we have to send it by freight car and that is more dangerous. So virtue signaling to the left doesn't help if you have a bad Railway accident.Don't forget the railway accident that Pete buttigieg didn't want to go to but president Trump went to go see them. Democrats keep self-inflicting wounds and keep saying that climate change is the biggest existential threat when Democrats are the biggest existential threat to our US economy and to our freedoms. Notice how Elon Musk exposed censorship done by the by then Administration and how a federal judge is preventing the Biden Administration from tipping the scale on social media on trying to Shadow ban or sensor conservative points of view.

The guy in Finland didn't want to spend 22 Grand to replace his battery and I don't think economies of scale is going to drop the price of a battery down to three or $4,000 and knowing how Democrats are, they're going to add carbon taxes like the Canadians have to electricity. They're also going to add a road tax so it's going to make it very expensive to have an electric car and it's going to be false savings.

Some of you guys are not going to be laughing 5 years from now... especially if we elect another Democratic president that considers climate change to be the biggest existential threat.

I had a chance to see a couple who had an original 1963 Buick Skylark b-body. Pontiac made the Tempest and Oldsmobile made the f85. It was unique one year only body style. This one had a 215 cubic inch aluminum V8. This was one weird car that was in red. It had power windows, power steering but manual brakes. Even though it had a high performance v8, it only had a two-speed automatic!
The friendly couple was in their late seventies and early '80s.

Well to start you didn't acknowledge the recent discovery of an estimated 100 year supply of rare earth minerals in Sweeden. But to get to your basic question yes. When internal combustion vehicles came out a good chunk of them went bad in 7 years and the junk yard industry was born. Over the years the art of recycling residue from vehicles was developed and there is absolutely no reason to believe that he same won't happen with electric vehicles. Just because a technology is in its infancy today doesn't mean entrepreneurs aren't working to solve the issues. You seem to have a lack of vision and want go compare everything to the conditions that exist godly. That is simply shortsighted!
I'm not a fan of EVs, they simply don't meet my needs, but there are entire industries devoted to changing that and there is little doubt in my mind to they will succed. Will I drive one, probably not in my lifetime, but I'm willing to bet my kids, and certainly grandkids will.

Electrict anything is not sustainable. We simply are being sold a pig in a poke because the technology is not there yet for mass production of electric cars. My own opionion is that Hydrogen is the future and is the most available source in the universe. Toyota has stopped electirc manufacturing; as has other dealers and are beginning to look at hydrogen as the future.

Y'all talk all the sierra that you want to. I know my Tesla can A) beat all of you in the quarter mile, has a higher top speed than almost all of you, and costs half of what you pay in fuel to charge up. Plus, it's just plain fun! I took it on a road trip from Tennessee to Florida. Yes, it took longer to get there, but I didn't pay a dime in fuel costs as it came with unlimited supercharging. Plus, I paid less than 30k for it, used. That's without any government subsidy. Y'all will just have to eat my electron-charged dust! (BTW, 2016 Model S, 105k miles, battery still at 94% capacity)

We have to start somewhere, when the first automobiles started coming out, everyone said it will never replace the horse, it cost too much, required too much metal, gasoline stinks as well as the exhaust of the time it scared the horses and caused deaths as well, it was either the car crashed or runaway wagon or a combination of both. Then Henry Ford came along and made the car affordable to the working man. Problem was then, there wasn't enough gas stations. Decades later it was the fight for fuel economy and the EPA clean ups contaminated ground and water, oil spills. Now we are going through the same growing pains with EVs. Everyone forgets that at one time we had child labor for coal to warm up our houses or fabricated the clothes we wore. We passed laws to stop child labor, and we encourage other countries to do the same. But some of these countries the father has been killed or died due to lack of health care in their country. Now it is up to the oldest boy or boys to support the family. In some areas of Africa, the whole village comes together to dig up just one diamond to support the village. Ones we can make batteries better and safer and less harmful to the environment. just like we have done with gasoline, oil, engines, and plastics. Sure, we are going to have winners and losers but that is the cost of capitalism and the open market. Everything has or have to start somewhere.

EVs will have to evolve, just as ICE vehicles did. More importantly, we need an infrastructure to charge and am electrical grid that can make enough electricity to make it work. We aren't even close to that. Right now, the EV is perfect for the person that commutes to work and charges at night. But to drive from Miami to NYC? Not so much. But, they will evolve, just as the ICE did.

I don't think we should push electric vehicles. I get that we need to do better for the environment however, 1 country is not going to make a difference. I don't think that states should dictate on what you can buy. Like in CT by 2035 no more gas powered vehicles will be sold in CT that are new. That's BS. Let's put the pressure on the manufacture to get more miles out the tank and less and less emissions instead of electric crap that batteries will catch on fire. With the price of electric and gas going up there is no difference in price. We have to rethink this. There are not enough charging stations around. There are many pros with electric vehicles but we are not there as a whole to go electric. Look at the disposal for bad batteries. You can't dispose of them so how are we doing anything good for the environment when we can't recycle everything.

The quick and easy answer is no, they won't be. I think the best thing happening right now (hopefully) is the inventors and scientists are looking for new sources of power other than EV to keep us moving.

I will not buy an electric car, I'll keep my diesel truck and my 2 hotrod. Electric cars are a pipe dream. If the e er get hydrogen cars going I might get one. But it will be a second car. I don't buy into this climate change crap. If climate change were really a thing, all those rich people in Martha vineyard, would not live there, along with all those that choose to live on the beach
