<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Move out Copperas Cove if you dont feel like dealing with the gate traffic<br />I think 2 ABCT will be deployed by the time you get here, so come ready to hit the ground running.<br />Do not move anywhere near clear creek, that traffic is disgusting.<br />Hood is in a great location 2.5hr from Houston, 3hr from Dallas, 1hr from Austin and 2hr from SA. <br />SHopping outlets in Round Rock (30mins) <br />Take your DA Photo before you get here, the calendar fills up quick down here.<br />We have a great new PX <br />Please dont come here without your NCOer, them CSM will be on you quick. <br /><br />Thats all i can think of right now.

It&#39;s been about 6 years since I&#39;ve been there, but I don&#39;t imagine the structure has changed much.<br /><br />There is a headquarters platoon, an ambulance platoon (EVAC!), and a treatment platoon. You&#39;re likely going to headquarters platoon. As the other platoons are mostly medics. Prepare to be doing everything but your MOS.<br /><br />I concur with SFC Thomas. Traffic is pretty dang awful.

I was in the BEB so I can&#39;t talk for the 15th. If you don&#39;t mind the commute Harker Heights, Cove, Nolanville &amp; Belton are beautiful areas. But it depends on what type of scenery you like. If you stay in Killeen, stay south of the freeway. The area behind the bridgewood subdivision or the Walmart on Stan schuleter is a real nice area because it&#39;s fairly new houses out that way

I have a really good place in Copperas Cove but you cannot own pets here. It&#39;s a 2 bedroom apartment for about $500 a month. It comes with an optional storage unit for exactly half the price I was paying for a smaller unit through uhaul.

If so what city will the spouse work in?<br /><br />15bsb was a subordinate command, so I worked with the leadership.<br />Prior duty positions had me working with drivers to maintainers to company/ section leaders.<br /><br />It was always a box of chocolates...<br />Sometimes you got exactly what you wanted sometimes you got a nut.

Roughly a 10 minute drive from the 2nd brigade footprint. You&#39;ll be busy as hell as a 30 level Juliet on rear D. Maybe they&#39;ll make you rear D 1SG

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>i lived in Walker Village when i was stationed at Fort Hood, &amp; that is over by the Warrior Way PX &amp; the Commissary.<br />i don&#39;t have any info on the 1st Cav, but i do know that Fort Hood is a very nice post to be stationed at.<br />and if you&#39;re planning on living off-base, it would be a good idea to leave your house around 0430, because there will be a massive rush to get on base in the morning for pt &amp; first formation

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Let me start by saying that every place you go to is what you make of it. Having said that, come ready to work and be prepared for a high optempo. <br /><br />I just left 2ABCT in Nov and we worked all the time. You will go to the field a lot and probably expected to do the work of three people.<br /><br />As far as where to live, most definetely try to go to Copperas Cove. The traffic is horrible if you are coming from Killeen and most people live in areas where they use the main gate or Clear Creek gate, avoid those areas. I stayed in some apartments right outside the Tank Destroyer Gate in Copperas Cove, behind CIF, and traffic was at the most three vehicles at any time of the day. The apartments were kind of old but very well kept, never had any issues with anyone or anything. They even have a storage facility which you can rent at a cheaper price since you are a tenant, came in handy for me as I would store my bike in there whenever I was not riding.<br /><br />2ABCT is deploying in the summer and you are missing NTC, so you are going to be behind the power curve as far as working together with your team and being ready to perform to expectations. Just know that and be prepared to catch up and just do the best that you can without cuttting any corners.<br /><br />I hope this helps, if you any other questions don&#39;t hesitate to shoot me an email.
