It's been about 6 years since I've been there, but I don't imagine the structure has changed much.

There is a headquarters platoon, an ambulance platoon (EVAC!), and a treatment platoon. You're likely going to headquarters platoon. As the other platoons are mostly medics. Prepare to be doing everything but your MOS.

I concur with SFC Thomas. A lot of jackassery goes on in that BDE. I was in the BEB so I can't talk for the 15th. If you don't mind the commute Harker Heights, Cove, Nolanville & Belton are beautiful areas. But it depends on what type of scenery you like. If you stay in Killeen, stay south of the freeway. The area behind the bridgewood subdivision or the Walmart on Stan schuleter is a real nice area because it's fairly new houses out that wayResponse by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 30 at 2017 5:50 AM2017-01-30T05:50:49-05:002017-01-30T05:50:49-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member2295359

I'm in the same BDE but can't tell you much about 15th BSB specifically. As far as best place to live, it really.depends on your situation. I have a really good place in Copperas Cove but you cannot own pets here. It's a 2 bedroom apartment for about $500 a month. It comes with an optional storage unit for exactly half the price I was paying for a smaller unit through uhaul.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 30 at 2017 6:44 AM2017-01-30T06:44:53-05:002017-01-30T06:44:53-05:00SGM Erik Marquez2295657

My info on post is dated as I retired as the 1st cav G3 SGM Jan 1 2014
but we stayed here after and I still go on post monthly to teach or use the Hosp .

Traffics at times you will
Likely go in is the biggest concern, after that there are some less good places to live in Killeen.

Do you have schooled aged kids? Great prices, new homes, close to all the necessary shopping venues and schools. Roughly a 10 minute drive from the 2nd brigade footprint. You'll be busy as hell as a 30 level Juliet on rear D. Having said that, come ready to work and be prepared for a high optempo.

I just left 2ABCT in Nov and we worked all the time. You will go to the field a lot and probably expected to do the work of three people.

As far as where to live, most definetely try to go to Copperas Cove. The traffic is horrible if you are coming from Killeen and most people live in areas where they use the main gate or Clear Creek gate, avoid those areas. I stayed in some apartments right outside the Tank Destroyer Gate in Copperas Cove, behind CIF, and traffic was at the most three vehicles at any time of the day. The apartments were kind of old but very well kept, never had any issues with anyone or anything. They even have a storage facility which you can rent at a cheaper price since you are a tenant, came in handy for me as I would store my bike in there whenever I was not riding.

2ABCT is deploying in the summer and you are missing NTC, so you are going to be behind the power curve as far as working together with your team and being ready to perform to expectations. Just know that and be prepared to catch up and just do the best that you can without cuttting any corners.

I hope this helps, if you any other questions don't hesitate to shoot me an email. Good luck to you and have a blessed day...Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 22 at 2017 12:37 AM2017-02-22T00:37:28-05:002017-02-22T00:37:28-05:002017-01-29T22:40:39-05:00
