Go Google USAREC recruiting school requirements. I believe its on the website about personnel debts. You have to provide a financial statement. From AR 601-1 dtd 2007 (26) Be financially stable, have not filed a petition claiming bankruptcy within the last 3 years, and not currently be responsible for making any payments as a result of any such action. Soldiers are strongly encouraged submit a DA Form 5425 (Applicant/Nominee Personal Financial Statement) to ensure their financial situation is considered in their assignment. In determining financial suitability, consideration will include income versus expenditures, savings and investment programs, and costs associated with being separated from military installations. DA 5425 financial statement.

Just left Recruiting 7 months ago and I would say that they seriously look at everything. Reason being is some recruiters back in a day were pimping out their recruits; hell I had one in my class who was chartered out for recruiting his recruits for nude modeling. And he made a lot of money doing that to pay off his debts. So if you have a lot of debts, pay them and get caught up before you drop your packet. I spent 42 months in Recruiting and seen some unthinkable being done by other recruiters.

Thanks for the responses everyone, my main concern is the house that I own that I currently rent out and my student loans. I'm current on everything and never have filed for bankruptcy or needed to. I just didn't want to submit a packet and get rejected due to my high debt.

A Full background check is mandatory for a variety of reasons...
Of our Recruiting Class I know of several that never made it and three that were removed during the first two weeks, and we believe all of them for financial reasons.

I was a detailed Recruiter, as was 80% of my class (I was yanked out of Drill Sergeant School).
One of the guys that was yanked out of Drill told me he was going to take out as many loans as possible to get him booted from the School, which it did.

Unfortunately for him, when he re-applied for Drill 18 months later Recruiting snagged him and he ended up being two years behind me ....
