I was selected for 153A on this last board. What materials or subject matter would you recommend studying while I wait for a class date?

Goddam you. Currently waiting for my board to come to a decision for me. Naval aviation though.

Not a pilot but I've been studying like a mad man for over a year now. Basic physics (i'm sure by now you're familiar with bernoulli's principle, Newton's laws, venturi flow), math, mechanics...Just think of what was tested on in the SIFT and expand on that.

I read a few different books but if you want a great one stop shop book i'd suggest "fundamentals of flight" US Army aka FM 3-04.203. Touches on a little bit of everything.

I'm jealous as hell but best of luck. Any idea what airframe you'd want to fly?

I would focus on your PRT and land navigation. WOCS is not a gimme and many candidates take it for granted and end up recycling or getting kicked out. You will have plenty of time to study aviation.

Brush up on PRT, DNC and Land Nav. Go in with a positive attude and try to just focus on school when you are there. Once you check in, and over the next few weeks of school you will meet and get in close with the fellow candidates who are aviators as well. Five weeks goes by fast.

Like others have said, land nav (make sure you can plot a point on a map, pace count and terrain associate ). A bunch of people got set back for land nav failures. Read through the woc sop once or twice but don't go crazy on it just yet. Take leave.. assuming you're on your way to WOCS soon, you could be on a school time line that's very quick with few breaks in between. Minus the holidays season you might be working hard at school for close to 2 years without an oppertunity to take leave when you'd like to. I'd recommend taking a week and doing something non Army related close to when you're about to go to WOCS. It might help you stay a little more sane in the long run. Just my .02 .

Push-ups, 6 mile run, get up...get downs, burpies...etc...
They will teach everything you need to know about aviation.

Destin, Atlanta, Panama City and other locations. You're about to be flooded with information and will have plenty of time to study later on. Unless you have an aviation background or a hobbyist, all of the information you could study on aviation would be for rote memorization. Without context or correlation you could be wasting your time on anything but learning how to and why to log flight time.
