I was medically retired, but I want to continue service. Is there anyway to reenlist if I am able to get my conditions under control?

I was MEB for asthma and vocal cord dysfunction. The asthma was always controllable with the inhaler, but the vocal cord dysfunction made my life miserable. I have been getting adequately treated for the vocal cord dysfunction and it is almost never a problem, unfortunately the asthma is what put me in the "retired" status. Is there anyway to get back?

If you were medically retired, you received an RE-4 and will need to have that upgraded before being able to join again

Contact a recruiter and have your DD214 and your MEB findings handy.

The details of your discharge will dictate whether you can or not.

There are plenty of alternatives to serving than being in the Military. Be sure to check all your options as MEBs are fairly final.

You may want to look into serving as a civilian employee or in a State Guard depending on what your looking for.

I don't have any suggestion as to what you could do to re-enlist back into service, but what I could tell you to perhaps look into is government contracting. This is just as an option for you, if you are not able to go back in - I hope you are able to find a way but if not, consider contracting. Many contracts out there and if you need help on some thoughts, shoot me a message and I'll help you out the best way I can. Good luck!

Please don't. You most likely have an RE Code 4 anyway, which is not going to get waived. Enjoy your retirement.

You are either disabled or you are not. Are you ready to live with that? What percentage did you get?
What percentage does the VA give you. If it is 30% or less you might have a shot with the Board of Corrections for Military Records for your branch

You could serve in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. They support the coasties and carry out real world missions all while being civilians. Texas, if that's where you are also has the Texas Guard which is the state militia and is the third branch of the state military department (ANG and ARNG being the other two).
