I want to rejoin the Army but my re-enlistment code says I can't. I was Honorably discharged. Is there a way of getting around this?

From what I have read and dealt with, there are very few reasons that aren't waiverable. Have you talked to a recruiter yet? They should be able to point you in the right direction.

Can you provide the terms of your separation. That factors into a lot. In addition to that your RE-Code would provide some more information in which we can better answer your question.

Yup, your RE code is the reason (or age, can you make your 20 years combined service before you turn 60?) I've seen plent RE codes waived. You need recommendation letters and a O-3 or higher to recommend the waiver.

Thank you ALL for the responses and I will look into each one. I was in from 89-98 active and 2 years reserves. I requested and was granted early seperation from my 2nd enlistment due to family circumstances with an honorable discharge . I have since built a very successful real estate business in 3 different states. I have always long to go back in and in 2005 I discovered the re code, (@ this time I don't have it. But I will post) I do work closely with our states leaders and see if I can make headway there as well as speak to the recruiting office again. Thank you all so much.

I think the only RE code that not be over ridden by the Army COS is an RE-4...that is reserved for vets that were normally injured while on AD...If you did not get a MRB (that is what they called it in my era) Medical Review Board discharge, then you should be able to get it waived. I am sure it is still the same as when I was in and they need MP's out the wazzu, we were always under staffed even at the Direct Support units OCONUS we were not at full platoon strength.

It is all in the details. Just so you know, ANYTHING can be waived if you know where in the reg to look, the real question is it worth your time to try?

Take dd214 and entire discharge packet to local recruiter office, if you are really serious about getting back in have I'd ss card, birth certificate,
