I want to re-enlist but my recruiter won't call me back. What can I do? I have a clean DD-214.

More than likely the prior service category is closed. With the draw down the prior service categories are the first to close.

It's about numbers and quotas. The army tells recruiters to put at least 2 "quality" people in per month. A prior service individual doesn't count as a"quality" individual. They want a high school grad that scores over a 50 on the ASVAB. You are what's called an "other." The recruiter gets zero credit for you. The station commander gets zero credit. You can try calling your local recruiting company headquarters and talking to the 1SG. Or find another recruiting station in another area. Neither are guaranteed to work, but you can try.

I do not know why your recruiter is not calling you back. Here is the deal for the Army... First we need to make sure you are morally qualified and then medically qualified. If you are an E4 or below with less than 36 months active duty time you can pick any job you qualify for that is available. If you have more than 36 months active duty time than you have 18x, 35P, or 11x if you are already airborne qualified. These are the rules for joining the active Army. The reserves is different and you can pick any job you are qualified for.

If you are completely out you fall under the guidance of being a prior service. That means tha whatever branch you choose to go into has different restrictions dealing with you.
If you are still in you need to see your retention NCO as that is a separate process.
I believe you said recruiter that translates to me that you are out. If I'll be 100% honest you are at the mercy of the needs of the service. Regardless of you stellar career the services are down-sizing that means less opportunity specially for prior service.

9 times our of 10, the recruiter won't respond because reenlisting you doesn't count towards their quota and doesn't benefit them at all. Are you only interested in the Marines or have you explored the other branches yet?

USMC Prior Service program opens for applications January 1st. Your MOS will need to be open otherwise you will have to lateral move. I know we still have openings for FY 16 maybe not in your MOS. We have certain recruiters for prior service. If you are in Texas here is the prior service HQ contact info.

It is my guess, if your recruiter is not calling you back it is because they are not accepting PS. If you want to get me direct information, I might be able to give you a better answer. Are you trying to go AD, RE-Code, ETC.

I worked Navy Recruiting for a few years and I'll just say that it was hard to put PS in. It happened but it was a lot of work and the Navy did not count PS as a contract until shipping(as opposed to when they intially enlist/DEP in), but it still counts as a loss if a PS person doesn't go(and since recruiting is very much about the numbers, you can see where this could happen).

However, the Recruiter should give you a reason and if not, talk to his boss. Hell, our business cards had the number of our CO at District command on them, just in case someone was really not satisfied and needed to go all the way up the chain.

If your recruiter refuses to give you an answer or even speak to you, better to find another recruiter. One who will at least tell you the truth or answer your calls. There's no excuse for leaving you hanging.

There are cut back you might have to change your most which mean taking asvab and getting a higher score or look into another branch and I know marines don't like to change up but you can get in the air force with a sign on bonus and rank 2 year school as airman retrieval corps. One of there special units that go into hot zones to get there piloted and troops out of trouble just a thought marine and army are trying to get you to sign up for reserves takes longer to get your pension

Go to his office. But be prepared. Congress has directed a reduction in numbers for the military overall. Tbe recruiter nay not have spaces for reenlistment. Just ask him to level with you on your chances for reenlistment. He has a specific number of slots. Good luck.
